Clucking Blossom VI Band, Poet, Soloists Sign-Up

(52 posts)
  1. Howdy,
This here is where we're going to *try* to get all bands, poets, soloists, etc. to sign up. Though I'm sure there'll be other forms of contact coming through.

    Info:

Clucking Blossom VI is upon us! May 15th to be specific! It's going to be at the Birch Hill Rec Area (off of Steese Highway near the cemetery). Here's a general layout of "rules" or general outline of what is expected of each act:

    1) Bands get 20 minutes
(there WILL be an emphasis of bands late in the night getting extended time...if you don't get extended time, don't feel bad. Not everyone can have extended time AND it's something to shoot for with future Clucking Blossoms)
    2) There will be a progression throughout the day from acoustic music to louder, more energetic music.
(We really want to have a flow for the day and we've seen time and again having a metal band at 12:30pm just chases away the families that are enjoying the acoustic music)
    3) We will have 10-15 minute "Cluck Offs" once every hour or two. Some of these slots will be filled by Poets.
(A cluck off is where ANYONE in the audience [there'll be some method to the madness] can get on stage a perform a song, talk, do poetry...tell jokes. WHATEVER~)
    4) It'll be discussed in more detail as we go on, but bands will not be able to bring every amp and piece of equipment for themselves. We need to have some communally used things (mainly drums and bass amps) to make sure we keep on time. We ARE doing two separate stages this year though, so maybe that'll alleviate our time crunch~
    5) Just because you sign up for Clucking Blossom doesn't mean you will necessarily get to play
(Sorry if that sounds very asshole-like in nature, but we have limited slots and we want to offer the absolute best day of music...if you don't make it. There's the possibility of getting up for a "Cluck Off". So don't count yourself out if you don't make the cut.)
    6) If you have time restrictions, mention them. But quite honestly comments like, "We play better later in the day..." or "we'd really like a slot after 6:30" don't help a whole lot in the time-slot-choosing-process.
    7) If you have friends who make art...have them contact us! We're collecting art for an Art Walk in the woods and throughout the festival.

I'm sure there's other stuff, I'll mention whatever I come up with. Lastly, if you all could help and direct other people/bands to this forum for singing up it would be most appreciated...

The Phineas Gauge is all about clucking. An evening slot is strongly desirable, as members may have to work during the day.

  5. to Gravedigger: here!!

to the Phineas: we shall see what we can allot you, I imagine we'll be able to swing something desirable. Is it going to be the 5-piece formation?

  9. Perfect Slaughter would like a spot 20 minutes is fine for us. does that include soundcheck? we are very loyd and fast so it would be appropriate to put us with mourn the pariah or until death around there sets and same stage so all the loudness would happen at once cuz we are screaming a lot and stuff just to let anyone know who needs to know.
we do not use guitar amps so that would save some time our whole sound is digitally produced. from 1 central xlr output from our own mixer with our preset sound so that would save time when we do soundcheck. our contact info is myspace.com/perfectslaughter

and you can call me at 799-5059

  10. Although we have already discussed this....After Aubrey is down to clown. The music we will be playing is our heavier stuff though if that helps. And we have a couple of songs that should transfer good into mourn the pariah's set... but we will know how that works out tomorrow for sure at the Clash of the Gen"E"res show. Take it easy brother, hope you are enjoying your trip or what have you.

Resistence Training Lab is wanting a slot. Please consider us. 20 minutes is fine. We play covers like tool, system of a down, and Godsmack. Who do we call to varify?

    Posted 4 months ago #
  14. Any where we can listen to some of your recordings?

We don't have any recordings. You can checkout a band practice sometime. We have all been playing our instruments for many yrs. Guitar 23yrs, drums 20+ yrs...ect

We would likely play about 6 to 7 songs:

System of a Down: Toxicity, Prison Song
Deftones: Shove it my own summer
Godsmack: Awake, Straight out of line
    Tool: Sober, anima

So is it cool if Resistence Training Lab gets a slot or is a demo a must? We are wanting to get out and play this summer and promise to entertain.

    Posted 4 months ago #
  17. oh a demo isn't a must, we just prefer that the majority of the music be originals rather than covers...just a preference thing. But I imagine it won't be a problem. You're on the list though! We'll tell ya if you get a slot~

Thanks man!! We look forward to the opportunity. We will work on some originals soon but covers are fun for now because they are recognizable. GRINDCORE COWBOY- RTL agrees with you, TOOL is one of our favorite bands as well, we are working on a few songs by them. We do sober very well, Anemia (ie learn to swim) is another that we perform well. See you there.

In the Belfry of Anchorage would LOVE to cluck some blossom this year!

We're a relatively new band down here, but we have about 90 minutes of original material, so 20 is no big deal. evening slot would be best considering the drive and work situations, but we'd be happy to make it work for any time of day.

As far as the music goes: We're a fairly loud gypsy/art rock band. Folks down here compare us to Beirut, Devotchka, Gogol Bordello, etc.

Let us know if slots are available and what time you need us! We'll be there! If any bands want to set up some other shows outside of CB around that time we'd be down as well, seeing as how we'll already be up there.

(P.S. as far as PA's and mics are concerned, we rock a drum set, acoustic guitar, accordion, and vox. We can bring anything that is needed to help things run smoothly)

Sorry to post twice, but it occurred to me that our music would be a very good transition between the acoustic/folk and the punk/metal stuff... It's louder and heavier than folk, but definitely not hard rock. Something to consider for time-slot business.
